ADDITIONAL NOTES:

The Pantheon: Circa 125 A.D., "the best-preserved example of monumental Roman architecture" is filled with people looking up in awe at its engineering marvel of a ceiling:

The interior of the roof was probably intended to symbolize the arched vault of the heavens. The Great Eye at the dome's apex is the source of all light and is symbolic of the sun.... The oculus also serves as a cooling and ventilation method. As wind passes over the dome of the Pantheon, it is accelerated and creates a negative pressure zone called the Venturi effect. This pulls air out of the oculus at the top of the dome, drawing more air in from the portico entrance.

More architecture, more buildings, more monuments, more Rome, more Italy, more Europe, and more people-watching on this site.

a common reaction in emperor hadrian's 125 a.d. pantheon

I love that most of the photos are of people looking up, rather than of the architecture itself. Offers much more of a "what it was like to be there" experience than straight shots of the building would. The little boy at the bottom is my favorite.

I love the first one very much : no face can be seen! Interesting one :-)

I used to subscribe to a lot of photoblogs, but I just got rid of most of them because I got bored. I never get bored here. I love that the feed entices me to click through to the site by not offering the full lineup of photos. LOVE the photos, the site and the ecard function. Thanks for the inspiration!
