ADDITIONAL NOTES:

Venice Beach, California: When I asked Junior (who tags as "Hern") about when he and his friends come down to the beach to tag and paint, he responded quickly, "Every Sunday, like church."

We're standing among a few long cement walls on Venice Beach. It's one of the few places where it's legal for street artists to come out and create... and they've done so for years. You can see the history of the walls in the depth of spray paint, as Boes grabs a wall pock of rubbery layers.

And for those who have sent their condolences for my canon rebel, thank you. These were shot with a borrowed 10D, but I'm looking forward to upgrading.

*gasp* I grew up in Venice Beach! I moved two years ago to Florida and now I'm starting college here. This makes me miss California so much.

This series portrays an art venue that is all too rare - public graffiti walls. We had one in my home town and the work produced there was pretty extraordinary. Unfortunately those who tag to deface give the true street artists a bad name.
