ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Yes. It's true. The skies over Paris are phenomenally beautiful... and my camera died. The photo above is the last one it took. Half the image is blocked by the little flippy mirror thing (technical term) whose spring broke and could no longer flip fast enough. I blame the beautiful sunset, or perhaps three years of hard camera labor... travel, protests, rainstorms, and that time I dropped it.Tuesday 14 November 2006
dusk skies over paris and the last photo my camera took

The 2nd to last photo is great for a camera whose flappy thingie is about to bust.
The new D80 kit is pretty hot, but I'm not sure what you are looking for.
RIP camera. A great way to go out.
Sorry to hear about the camera. Was it the Rebel that broke? It's a great excuse to upgrade. I like the silhouettes in 3 & 4, especially the sun bursting through the carousel.
No, It's not dead, no realy. I had exactly that kind of problem with my camera (same as yours) and it cost me R$400,00 to fix it (aprox. US$180), maybe you could/should try to fix yours too.
BTW, great pictures. :)
Sad news about your camera. It's provided so many great photos here. Hopefully, it won't mean that your site will be without new photos for too long. I've seen and handhled the new Rebel XTi, which is really nice, save for the lack of a separate status display (and some reports about occasional underexposure). Whatever happens to your camera (fixed or replaced), I look forward to seeing more of your photos.
Me too, I'm addicted. Maybe using ne one will lead you to another level of photography, ne style will arise :>
I also vote for the second last; great sky.
Sorry to hear about your camera :( Will Canon fix it, or is she totally gone? As for the shots, the second to last is great. The carousel shot is really beautiful too ... I like the lens flare and the way the light comes through the little bit of haze above the tree on the left. Here's to many more shots in the (hopefully) not so distant future.
I think I'll quote the flickr title of the broken camera "Oh noes!!!" So sorry that your camera had to die! That must be poopy but it's a good excuse for an upgrade! :)
My favorite is the third photograph. It looks like something that you'd remember from your childhood. Beautiful!
yay! new camera time!
(trying to be positive! with exclamation points!!)
This is such a visual and calming set! Sorry to hear about the death of your camera, but IMHO, I think most cameras would have been very lucky to have taken half of the amazing photos you have. I'm always in awe.
I hope you get a camera soon. I'm going to miss your pictures.
My vote goes for the Canon 5D. Worth every penny.
Sorry to hear about the camera. I'm sure it can be fixed, although it does present the opportunity of an upgrade... I can recommend the 5D, but it's pricey, and the full frame may necessitate some lens revisions based on your moderate telephoto style...
i absolutely love the second to last picture and its terrible to hear your camera died, but i suppose now you have an excuse to buy a new one :)
dear rion, my camera died this month too. a canon powershot 230. i replaced it with the powershot 700 with image stabilization. now i have to learn to use it. it will never take pictures for me as great as the ones you take. that is something you can't buy in a box.
Yes, sorry to here about your camera's demise. It still had a flicker of life on that last beautiful image at dusk. If you've been good, maybe Santa will surprise you at Christmas... ho ho ho!
Your photos are gorgeous, moving, vivid and lively :-)
love the ambience so much...
these shots are amazing, as well as the street and city life ones. keep it up, i enjoy it alot.
