ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Onjuku, Japan: (yes, traveling again...) above, summer beach-goers wander the food booths in a small japanese village. reminds me a bit of this set, but the 50mm f1.8 is definitely not as good for street shooting as the 85 is.
Another japanese food fest here, and previous japan on this site.

perusing summer festival booths on a warm japan eve

Really great shots. I love the candids of the girls. They have such a quiet, peaceful, even sensual (maybe) overtone which is just amazing considering I'm sure it was loud and busy at the festival. Also: bravo getting such sharp, close shots. Impressive, for surely you did not use a tripod...?
I love the mood and color of this set. I like how all the people are partially covered by some object or just fading into the shadows.
so why didn't the 50 work for you? too close?
if i had your 50mm f1.4, i'd be happy, but i'm currently using the f1.8... lower quality; not as reliable for action shots.
Love that top shot!
I love theses shots, so nice colors and rederer, nothing to waste, framing is well thought
I love your photography, especially this japan set. You really capture the warmth and action well. I especially enjoy the photo with the man and the chicken skewers.
very vivid.
just pretty!
