ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Barcelona, Spain: having spent New Year's Eve in the center of Times Square last year, we had no expectations as to what we'd do for 2006. NYE on La Rambla in Barcelona has proven to be a wild follow-up, not for the any fireworks or showy event -- there is none -- but for the spectacular amount of reckless freedom allowed on the streets: constant M80-type firecrackers exploding within crowds, no open container laws, bottle throwing high into the air and then dancing on the broken glass.
while there were a handfull of police, they mostly just kept an eye on things and let the party have its way for miles around. the night was definitely wild compared to NYC and was a nerve-steeling sight to see.
