ADDITIONAL NOTES:

Photobloggers at The Gates 1: as an excuse to hang out with some new york city photobloggers who i talk with online but don't usually see in person, i've organized a few outings to take portraits of them while they're photographing The Gates in Central Park.

Mike Epstein, of Satan's Laundromat, and I lucked out today, as our planned excursion got some snow last night. on top of seeing some lovely sights, i also got to catch up with Mike about his project of walking every street in new york city, an endeavor that should take him another year and a half or so to complete.

it's been a lovely project of my own to hang out with fellow photobloggers in the last week. a few more portraits from the series to come.

photobloggers at the gates: snow & satan's laundromat

21 February 05 @ 19:35
I really love the second photo, something about the 23rd composition and the contrast of the trees against the white background. Also the subtle ribbon of orange that are the gates. :)

This is the way I wanted to see the Gates, the snow and the orange gates are perfect. My favorite one is #4. I love your page.
21 February 05 @ 20:53
Shot #7 is really well constructed -- it build marvelously on their verticality from the side. Very nicely done, Rion. (Is it a Satan's Laundromat coincidence that the first three digits of the security image I see are "666"?)

like #7. receding line of trees intersected by the gates.

# 2 ii like alot.. the trees look like its holding up the snow .. but its the whiite clouds.. ; )
22 February 05 @ 04:39
The second photo is very good, nice compostion. My favourite.

Beautiful photography. I love all, but the #2 and the #8 are marvellous! May I do to you a suggestion? It's about the size of the character of the text: Verdana 7. The size of the character is too small and it is difficult to read.

i would have really loved to see those gates under snow. the contrast of the orange on white it excellent. good idea and great job.
22 February 05 @ 10:30
gates schmates. mike's hat and bag are matching!!
22 February 05 @ 11:15
I like number 8 the most! It looks rather weired, like an image from another world. Would have loved to see the gates in nyc...
23 February 05 @ 14:37
Looks like we just missed each other. Should have pinged all you NYC photolog people before coming East! (Wow, character recognition in the comments)
23 February 05 @ 15:59
~good to get out and meet other photobloggers, a great series on the Gates, keep 'em coming~
06 March 05 @ 17:36
Photo 8 is cool but a little disturbing when I first saw it -- I thought it was some kind of accident scene. So glad it wasn't!
10 April 05 @ 21:29
Truly Brilliant. I do like the way you see the world. Respect.
