tattoo'd strangers on the boardwalk at coney island

nice series. love the composition in the second image down. more power to you in this new direction; i "see " a lot of portaits but have a hard time pointing my camera at people.

fantastic! i love strangers! way to be brave. love 1, 2, and 7!
28 July 04 @ 10:55
great set of photos, love the second and sixth best. I find it really hard to go up to people and ask to take their photo, it feels so presumptuous, though it gets easier when you're with someone. Definitely worth it when you get these results.

love these, especially #7.

~IMHO your best photo essay...the subject matter and place are unique, well presented and all contain characters with stories behind her their tats...well done, bt far my favorite series I have seen here~
28 July 04 @ 15:56
The color on all of these are really fantastic. I'm guessing that you asked these folks (most of them, anyways) before you took their picture?
28 July 04 @ 16:26
This is really one of my favorites, but I've always been a fan of tattoos even though I don't have the attention span to actually get one!
28 July 04 @ 17:56
Love this series! The colors and the Tattoos:)

Gorgoues photo series chock full of prsonality. Power to you for taking more portraits... I am too wimpy to approach strangers. :( Thus my people shots are mainly of my friends/family who know I am a crazy shutterbug.
28 July 04 @ 20:49
Wow! This is a beautiful series.
28 July 04 @ 22:56
excellent series. amazing colors and composition and most importantly, great subjects. particularly like the candid one of the person in the black top smiling... and the last one makes me wince. it just looks so bloody painful!

coney island rocks!
30 July 04 @ 10:48
Really nice series. Subject, sharpness, color and exposure are tops. Are you shooting with something other than the Rebel these days? I noticed the aspect ratio is back to 4:3. Anyhow, keep up the good work.
01 August 04 @ 16:05
still using the rebel, just starting to not stick to any one ratio, i suppose. and yes, i'm starting to just talk to people on the street to get (most of) these!

thx all. will look forward to posting more portraits soon...

04 August 04 @ 10:43
utterly fabulous!
16 August 04 @ 13:42
Leave it to the art student to notice the aspect ratio... Great bunch. Number 2 is something special.
